First, points for the make-up artistry. The colors are nice and pastel, complimenting to the background of the photo. The gold is a nice touch and one I'm sure will catch on trend. There is just the right amount of "messiness" to it that allows for perfection. The lip color is also fantastic and it plays off of the deep blue of the shirt.
Now, for the photography. The composition is great. I love the fact that both the model and only part of the flower is in focus, allowing for some softness to balance out. The colors are all properly juxtaposed, blending and matching each other wonderfully. The shoulder has just enough showing that it adds to the photo and doesn't detract. The photographer also has provided an art director with enough room to insert text for a magazine spread, a very important factor.
The right eye is out of focus, and that is a definite detractor, but not something that would have shown up in a camera's LCD (Knowing from experience here). The problem simply makes itself more apparent because her other eye is so focused and beautiful. Perhaps stopping up the aperture next time might help this, or a manual focus.
I would seriously consider some minor retouching. There is a shadow on her forehead that detracts from the beautiful makeup job, and there are a few specks of dirt below her eyes that could use editing out. Furthermore, I'm not a big fan of stray hairs, so the tiny ones that flit across the right side of her face could go.
Other than this, you have a wonderfully composed photo that tells a story, that has wonderful make-up, and is excellently coloured.
Today, I've seen this portrait about 4 four or five times but untill now I cannot find spare time to write a comment about it.
Well... First of all I love the make up except the golden part near the left eye of the model. However, as a total all make up seems very good. Model has a very meaningful glance; although there seems to be a lack of sharpness in the left eye (right eye from our viewpoint), eyes are quite captivating.
The strongest point the photograph is the lips of the model. She seems she is going to tell us a secret. I bet we can hear her whispers if we listen to her carefully.
Composition is strong, colors are well chosen. Congratz for this great work.
